COVID 19 April 17th Update

April 17, 2020

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Under the direction of Governor Murphy, the Greenwich Township School District will remain closed until May 15, 2020, at the earliest. Based on information presented at the Governor's April 16, 2020, daily briefing, we do not anticipate opening the buildings to students or the community prior to that date.

A Greenwich Township School Board of Education meeting to present the 2020-2021 budget to the public will be held virtually on April 27, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. Details for public participation will be found on our website prior to that time. Any and all other scheduled activities and events utilizing the district campuses remains cancelled during this time.

  • Should you or your child be experiencing significant stress or anxiety with regard to this difficult situation, please do not hesitate to reach out to district guidance counselors, our school social worker (#1152), or our school nurses (BSS #1113, or NMS #2137). They can also provide contact information for additional local, county, and state resources.

  • New hard copy work packets should have arrived via United States Postal Service on or about Thursday, April 16. Please reach out to your building guidance counselor (BSS Mrs. Stacy Podolski # 1136 or NMS Mr. Dan Giorgianni # 2135) if you do not receive work. Additionally, assignments can be accessed directly from our website at http://www.greenwich.k12.nj.us/.
  • We will continue providing you multiple options for submitting any school work that your child has completed during the weeks of the school closure. Submission options include:
  • Directly to the teacher via email or online platform you have been provided (daily or as needed)

  • Direct drop-off between the hours of 9:00am and 1:00am at your child's school (daily)

  • Because there is limited staff at each building, please be patient as you wait for access to the school. If you are able to call prior to delivery to alert staff of your arrival, please do so.

  • Mailing directly to your child's school (daily or as needed)
  • Bus route pick-up at your child's approximately scheduled morning pick-up time. The bus will stop at assigned bus stops and you can simply hand it over to a school district employee or bus driver who will ensure it gets delivered to your child's school building. (During scheduled days to be announced.)
  • You may also include your parent certification letters with any student work submission or send along via separate mailing.

PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOUR CHILD'S NAME IS PROMINANTLY DISPLAYED ON ALL WORK AND DOCUMENTATION. For students at the middle school, please include teacher's name on each individual packet of work so that we can direct it appropriately.

  • You may also reach out to Mr. Mike Grelli in the event that you are experiencing a hardware issue on school-issued chromebooks. His extension is #2141.

  • Continued food service will be provided for eligible families. Lunch and breakfast can be picked up between the hours of 9:00am to 11:00pm at the cafeteria door of either school building. Please reach out to #2128 if you have any questions or concerns regarding food distribution.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jennifer Foley-Hindman
